Book a consultationHow to read a shade code
The number before the dot is the level, from 1 (black) to 10 (lightest blonde). The digits after it are tones, strongest first: .1 ash, .2 violet, .3 gold, .4 copper, .6 red. So 6.34 is a dark blonde with gold, then a little copper.

What clients say

-
“Three years of box dye. Ines got me to a soft brown in one visit and wrote down exactly what she used.”
Dana R. Sample review
-
“First haircut that understood my curls. Ren cut it dry, curl by curl, and it still looks good at week eight.”
Marcus T. Sample review
-
“I’m letting my grey grow in. Pia blended it so the roots read as highlights, not a line.”

Two chairs and a borrowed swatch ring
Ines Calloway opened Velvet & Vine in 2011 with two chairs, a borrowed swatch ring and one rule she still keeps: nobody leaves without their formula written down. Today there are six chairs and four stylists, and we’ll still tell you, kindly, when a shade won’t suit your hair.
